Anyone want to tell us all about your NYRA Warped Tour volunteer experiences? The rest of us want to know how it's going...

In New York, Alex Yamet, Kathleen Miller, and myself tabled the event.
Alex and I left Croton around 830. We didnt actually start setting up until close to eleven, because the guy who was supposed to let us in gave us crappy directions.
All of the groups were put in a horse-shoe pattern under one tent. It was very crowded and we got only half a table. Alex had done a great job making some signs, and we put them up. As we got started, things were going very well. We were next to an aids awarness group giving away free condoms. This lured people in our direction. Before the music started, it was much easier to recruit because we were less tired and we didnt have to scream over anything.
Throughout the day Alex did some great work with me at the booth, and handing out flyers. Kathleen was probobly the most effective, handing out hundreds of flyers and making our argument to a lot of people. I stayed at the booth the duration of the tabling because I wasan't interested in the music and I felt like shit. I think I did pretty good though. Our numbers lagged a bit as we got tired, and the aids awarness booth was replaced with scary communists.
We sold lots and lots of buttons.
Unfortunatley we lost the sale-info sheet, so I kept notes on a little peice of paper. We also got someone to sign up for a full membership, which I understand is not an easy task.
We left around a quarter till six, having signed up eighty people and made around 56 dollars. Our friend Ian helped set up and what not, but spent most of the time diging the music. All in all, I was pretty miserable- it was unbearbly dusty, and I felt as sick as I've ever been. But it was a good day for NYRA, I think our numbers were pretty good allthough they pale in comparison to DC. I'm happy with the way it went.

I can stand by Scott as a witness to say that he really didn't feel well, but he did his part as best he could. He stayed at the booth most of the time (a great thing for Kathleen and I so we could go watch our corresponding bands). He made his argument to many people that came by, and one woman especially came over disagreeing with us. By the time Scott and I had discussed things with her for well over 15 minutes, she left with a better understanding (but still disagreeing). There were many people like this. When I handed out flyers, it was the kids my age that responded with "Abso-fuckin'-lutely!" to my proposal to lower the drinking/voting ages. Adults that I handed it to were less enthusiastic, but many of them made a visit to our booth nonetheless. The flyers were a great asset to our day, because the big NYRA banner that I had wasn't enough to lure the thousands of people around us. Kathleen also handed out a lot of flyers (more than me) and helped to sell merchandise (mainly buttons). Thanks to Scott and Kathleen, and Ian as well, who helped to set up.

Here's a picture (http://members.cox.net/pedrop357/images/NYRA-Warped.JPG) I took of the table in Las Vegas on 7/5.

LOL it really was a picture of a table.
Where are you? HEh, behind the camera.
Well, that was a damned fine table you had set up, in any event...
