Good news, I was surprised that this still happens in public schools. At least I think it's a public school.

Oh yes, it still happens in the South, but it's sorta rare these days. Even in schools where it's allowed, teachers still worry about paddling students and the possbility of a lawsuit. Although I *have* seen one or two teachers who won't hesitate to whip out the paddle. Still, that's something to be thankful for... change comes in small steps and shit is a LOT better now than it was when I was a kid and the situation is improving all the time. As long as it doesn't start backsliding, I'm happy to see progress.

This is already posted in the Current Events forum, but, yeah, great to see this crap come to an end. And I agree, Yam, even I was shocked to find it is still legal anywhere in this country. I wonder what ever happened to that child abuser immunity thing in Ohio.
