Alright, what can I do to help in the Youth Rights Movement? My parents are bigots and are extremely ageist, so it would be impossible to convince them to join us. I'm grounded from the computer, internet, and the WWW, so I'm using my sister's DSi to browse the web; it's the only thing not locked. I also find it extremely difficult to type up anything on this damn DSi. There's no YR club anywhere near me (I think. I live in Ohio.) Plus, my parents get fucking angry if I don't listen to them, and I'm afraid if I get all rebellious they'll send me to some boot camp or something! I need some guidance; can any of you tell me what would be the best thing for me to do to help in the YR movement? You know, protest and all that? Also, without going to boot camp? Or being severely punished? Or, is it inevitable?

What the hell? Why do I seem suspicious to you? Suspicious of what?

Their not saying you're up to anything. It's just that internet people could be anyone, including cops or agent provacatuers.
As for what you can actually do, you could file for emancipation. And keep your eyes open. You never know when your parents could plan something drastic.

Um, emancipation seems kinda "over the top," but . . . Anyway, thanks. And, no, I'm not a cop or whatever. :)
I read in wikipedia that my parents have to be horrible in order for me to become emancipated. Like, physically abusive or something, which sucks; I should be able to get emancipated no matter the reason! Hell, I shouldn't even be living with my parents! I'm 15 years old! I should've said goodbye to my parents a long time ago! WTF?

Lindsay, WTF? :shame:
Anyway, ageism_sucks, I'm so sorry about your situation. Similar when I was 15. I don't know how much you can do, but for whatever it's worth, you've got supportive people here. Where in Ohio are you?

There's really no way to get emancipated in Ohio. You pretty much have to join the military or get married.
Where in Ohio are you? I like in the north-eastern part of the state.

As for helping out, you should join an Action Team! Check them out here:

Sounds like my parents. They are totally against youth rights. I'd love to work for the NYRA, but see the 1st two sentences of my post. That's why I can't. :-(

If you fear that your pearents may send you away somewhere then i suggest that you take action to keep an eye on them (but without risking getting caught doing it).
keep an eye out for any documents which could be a sign that they intend to send you somewhere. obviosuly direct comunications with such places is the obvious example but more subtle things such as loads of magazines with adverts for such places is also warning sign.
bellow is a list of ways and places you should look out for such things, it is not an exhaustive list and other people in this thread should suggest others so that you can cover as many bases as possible.
- keep an eye out when around the house for things lying around.
- when no-one is around search in places normally out of view such as draws and most importantly their bedroom.
- if you are able to do so read their emails
(hint, if u can find out their email password you can look from a remote location such as school)
- if you are able to do so browse their computer
(hint, if u get just one chance to access your parents computer set the hard drives permission setting to share with everyone that way you can use another pc on the home network to browse their pc, i know you said they took your pc away but you can still use any other pc in the hosue while no one is around)
- if you happen t find an itemized phone bill phone all unfamiliar numbers on it, you never know one of them might say "hello good Christians teen escort agency" when they answer your call.
if you do find evidence that they intend to send you away then what you do is Dependant on what you are able to do. but my advise would be to run away and go into hiding if you can no matter how much hardship this puts on you.
