That's not fair.

Yeah, he's further to the right than Rush. His old slogan used to be, "To the right of Rush and to the left of God."

I'm not gonna knock him. I don't listen much and he's usually a zionist asshole, but I heard he was having Peter Breggen on tonight. Great show.

Savage is fucking awsome. Not necissarily because I agree with him (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't), but because he is a total jackass, and when it comes to being sensative to people's feelings he has no problem telling people to go fuck themselves (in the meanest way the FCC will let him get away with)
In regards to the autism thing, I think we are living in an overly diagnosed society. Many of these diagnosis' are based on real sicknesses, but a lot of it is also bullshit. Docters are pressured to figure out what is wrong with people, so they write them a prescription or make a diagnosis and thats it. If they get better, who knows if it is the placebo effect or for real.

I'll admit listening to Savage can be amusing. Kind of like watching circus monkeys do slapstick humor. But as I pointed out in the YR Media Thread, he's a hypocrite.
Savage said this about Bill Maher in his book The Political Zoo.
“This perennial bachelor hooks up with porn stars for girlfriends but refuses to settle down and rear the next generation of little weasels. Perhaps his aversion to reproduce is well and good given his understanding of children. ‘I have two dogs,’ Maher once boasted on the air. ‘If I had two retarded children, I’d be a hero. And yet the dogs, which are pretty much the same thing. What? They’re sweet. They’re loving. They’re kind, but they don’t mentally advance at all…Dogs are like retarded children.’…Whether it’s Christians, first ladies, social conservatives, the mentally handicapped, or his scant audience, this balding weasel gets off by identifying the meekest and weakest of the herd and attacking, knowing full well he’d be devoured by any of the more aggressive species. (Savage has repeatedly rejected the producer’s overtures to appear as a set-up for the weasel and his gang.)"
So essentially, Savage attacked Maher for saying something which was arguably less offensive, since he was making an accurate observation about the intelligence level of retarded children. He wasn’t berating or condemning them; he simply pointed out that they had about the same level of mental capacities as dogs, and was pondering the difference between the two. (Recall that Maher is a board member of PETA, and probably considers mental capacities and self-awareness levels to be a more accurate indicator of personhood than species membership.)
Savage, on the other hand, denied that most autistic children even had any sort of mental disorder, claiming instead that they were “brats” who acted like “idiots” and “morons.”
Yeah, I'd say that's hypocritical.

I still havn't read The Political Zoo but apparently you have. Would you recommend it? I always read criticly, and I liked Savages other books, even though I found I objected to parts of them, for instance his description of art resembling 2girls1cup. I spent the rest of the day hovering above the toilet. :)

Autism is bang your head against the wall, scream when you get touched, don't speak until you're 5 level of mentally handicapped. I don't think you get the picture here. Maybe if he was talking about ADD/ADHD or something to that regard, I'd understand him to some degree, but for autism, that's pure bullshit and no excuse is going to make him look any better. People don't "get better" form autism, so do yourself a favor and look things up before you say something that is going to make you look ignorant.

What about mild autism?
In regards to the whole ADD/ADHD thing, I always hear it said that if Einstein was young in our time they would have put him on ritalin and he never would have had the revolutionary ideas he had. In my opinion his parents might even have sent him to a behavior modification school. :( He wasn't handicapped in any way. Just creative and a little hyperactive. Is that a crime? :)

What about mild autism?
As far as I understand it, functional autism-like problems are part of Asperger's disease, which is like autism, with many of the same causes and problems, but differes in degree, treatment, and prognosis. It wouldn't be called autism, wouldn't be treated medically in the same way, and they're actually expected to have control over most of their behaviors, unlike people with autism.

I'm so glad Ralph said it already, but let me reiterate: His name is Michael Weiner. He's not "savage" he's a fucking weiner. You'd be a hateful conservative nutjob too if your last name was weiner, LOL!
On topic, I have met MANY kids diagnosed as ADD/ADHD who really weren't, however I have yet to meet *any* autistic child who was not really autistic, unless there was a physical defect or something like that causing autism-like behavior.
My baby cousin was actually thought to be autistic until just recently. It was found that his brain was sitting too low and putting pressure on his spinal column and brain stem, which caused him to have the same symptoms as autism. Surgery corrected it and it does make me wonder how many other "autistic" kids may simply have undiagnosed problems that could be fixed, however it doesn't lead me to believe that autism is bullshit. I've known way too many severely autistic kids to ever believe that.
