first off we need a current events forum, but the reason why i posted this is to explain the 501c non profit status.
as you might have seen on the front page Alex and myself are working on getting the tax papers filed for non profit status. what this means is that the nyra will then be able to accept private grants from corperations while giving them a tax write off. also any donations to the nyra will be tax deductable. this will be a big step for the nyra as it will lead to grant proposals. it is possible that we will get rather large grants to fund projects for nyra. once we get one of those grants the possiblities are endless. if you are thinking about opening a local chapter now would be the time beacuase soon we will be able to give national support to the local chapters.
