Those who are free have a right to a public education, then why do they force it on people?

There's no choice allowed in a school system.

Those who enjoy it can stay, the students who are unhappy should be able to choose alternatives.

Amen.

Welcome to NYRA's little slice of paradise.

I think students should just riot at the schools. Trash everything and then maybe they'll be taken seriously.

I don't if that would be constructive... it could backfire.

Not if every school across the nation rioted.

If every school did, they'd be forced to listen.

But, I want to see every school riot...

*sighs* Unfortuntaly it'll never happen. Many of today's teens seem very docile compared to when I was. We had quite a few people who just shirked the rules and did as they pleased, but I think a lot of teens are fearful. Fearful they won't get their diplomas and scholarships, so they grin and bear it.

Ah, how I long for the 60s when students walked out of school or had sit-ins to protest shit like this. What ever happened to that youthful rebellion?

I agree with the fear being even more instilled now that other countries also are developing more post-industrial processes of living - competition. A lot of them consider it a need to stay put with school until graduation for a good college/job and social life.

I want to have the audacity to quit school and unschool very much and trust that it works.

In another forum, Voices of Youth, they talk about education for everyone globally.
I don't know if they mean to force it though. What do you think?
